BTS – Nook @ Sparks Street

What’s an Elf, a Witch and HPFP’s camera crew doing on Spark’s Street you ask? Why they are filming Nook a Sparta Short Film/Web-series about an elf who just takes on all the world’s problems… And makes them worse. We were lucky to get Jennifer Stanhope to take some BTS shots of us on our final day of shooting for the Sparta film challenge! Poor Patrick, we worked him so hard he had to take a nap… J/K, but will his Elfish character make it? Join us at the Mayfair August 25th 2013 at 11:30am to find out!

Ottawa Comiccon 2013

I decided to attend the Ottawa Commicon this year, First day I was dressed in semi-trek/sci-fi, second day was steam punk (thus all the steam punk photos), and the final day I’m going as Tony Stark of Iron Man. The Skit – Finding Dilithium – I’ll keep it brief on the plot but John Seed (aka Captain Seed) and I shot some skits with various cosplayers purely for fun where basically he is looking for some fuel and no-one is helping him; it features a ton of cosplayers and a few Ottawa Actors who knew and ran into at the Con. Once I edit the scenes together I will post here, until then her are some picture I took of the convention and a few BTS from the skits.

BTS – Kiss Proof World

Got an early morning call from Dave Shaw this morning, his DOP was sick and he needed a stand in. So I spent the day working as the director of photography for some re-shoots due to earlier sound issues. The most exciting time of the day was when Dave, trying to drive two actress home and avoid the excessive numbers in his driveway accidentally got his car stuck in the snow drift.

I took some IR (infrared photography of the cast on hand that day) and one regular light BTS shot. Thanks Dave for making me a part of this great feature film project for the day! Thanks all for Now!

Heaven Cent – OIFF 72 Hour Submission

Here is my OIFF 72 hour challenge submission, Heaven Cent. A story of a young girl’s escape to freedom… This is by far my first attempt at a ‘serious’ drama. Please watch to the very end as the credits are important and a lot of people helped me make this and worked hard over 72 hours to make this film. BTS Photos!!! After the catch we sit down and hash out some plot ideas. Chantal getting ready for her first scene as lead actress Catherine and Patrick being Catherine and Patrick Chantal taking some of Daniel’s light away. Patrick has fast photo-smile reflexes Catherine getting Chantal in the ‘mood’ of the scene. Dave Shaw drops by to discuss how it would be great to shot his scene at his place because he in two films (at the same time). Thanks a Wrap!

Had the opportunity to help behind the scenes on Jordan’s short film for OIFF 72 hour challenge. It’s a story about alimony and a penny. From what I saw it will be a must watch! Here are some BTS and Spoiler Shots: Then Dave had to go, and left us alone… and all I can say is that it got a little bit crazy…

It’s Your Birthday – The Film that Never Was

Now before you ask for it – I didn’t actually shot “It’s Your Birthday”, I shot a mockumentary about shooting a short film in 72 hours. And as the careful observers in the crowd will note that the “film camera” I am using in all the shots is in fact a Nikon D80, great camera and all that jazz but it doesn’t do video… well only at 4.5FPS if you hold down the shutter button.
